I LIVE... kinda

Hey y'all! Long time no see, right? Let's just say this is the end of my mini-hiatus! Hopefully for a veryyyyy long time.

Let me tell you -- life has been wild. Not the fun wild, either.

I have mainly been working. A ton. Which is not fun at all. In fact, it makes me angry.

Working 7 days a week, sometimes 13 hours a day is not fun. It's been rough with many hours of lost sleep and many days of a dirty apartment. Let alone I had to give up blogging for a bit, just to get some other things done. Slowly but surely I am trying to fit in things that I love. Work cannot take over my life and I've finally realized that. I'm trying to get my ducks in a row... blog more, look into ag-vocacy avenues (which I'll tell y'all more about later!), and trying to study for vet school. You know, doing more things for me.

For the most part, I'm going to try to update this regularly. No long absences. More fun posts of different things I love. Maybe a new layout? Either way, I will try to be around more often. Maybe it starts off as updating once a week, but I'll be here. (:

I've missed you guys, and I can't wait to get back into blogging!!

Let's make some lists!

(source)
My good friend Kristin of My Life as a Teacup is an Ambassador for the 30 Days of Lists! Kam and Amy put together a little link-up of listers and give us a way to be creative with our lists! It's also a great way to get to know each other.

If you go to 30daysoflists.com you'll be able to learn more and sign up there, too! Or you can go to Kristin's blog and sign up with her. :)

I hope you end up doing this great project with me, Kristin, and a bunch of great fellow listers!

Are you going to participate in Thirty Days of Lists?

Mascara & Lipgloss Swap! (better late than never!)

I know what you're thinking: Megan, you are so late with this swap link-up. What is your problem.

BLAME THE POST OFFICE.

The woes of moving: dealing with a new address and the post office that comes with it. After some hectic phone calls plus me yelling a bit (yelling sweetly, of course) at the people at the Postal Service, I got my lovely goodie bag from Kari at Cupcakes and Bling! She is a wonderful lady and from Oklahoma! She definitely knows the woes of this southern heat wave.

Not only did I get a beautiful pink heart bag, but this girl read my mind! I didn't give her much to go on but she did a perfect job!

What I got:

I've been waiting to use this mascara in forever! Plus, it's waterproof, so it won't melt on my face when I go outside!

This is such a great red shade. The applicator is angled, so it covers a lot of lip in a small swipe. It makes me look sultry and I'm in love. ;)

Thank God I got this, my nails have been looking wonky lately! Such an adorable design, too!

Thank you so much Kari, you got me some great little gifts!!

What type of mascara and lip gloss are your favorites?

easy diy: sharpie and ceramics

While browsing through some blogs, I found this awesome and easy diy for ceramics! I had just bought a boring tool container for my kitchen, and I wanted it to fit my small theme. Duh duh duh duuuuuuh... I decided to decorate it myself!

All you need is some sharpies and an oven. You can also do this on any ceramics surface, mugs and plates included! Just be careful to not mark on where you'll be drinking if it's on a mug. Otherwise, have a party!

After you're done decorating and coloring, just heat your oven to 350 degrees and place your item in the oven for 30 minutes. Once it's cooled, you're ready to do whatever you please with your new, colorful item. :)

NOTE: these are not dishwasher safe! If the color does wear, you can always just repeat the process.

What is your favorite easy DIY?

wallet feng shui

You read correctly. Feng shui can happen for your wallet. Don't believe me? Just take a look at the many articles for how to harmonize your wallet. A simple google search will lead you to thousands more articles to read. It's amazing! I decided to work on my wallet to feel more ~at ease~ with my money. Also, I'm feeling super insecure about my finances, and anything that helps me breathe easier is great to me.

Here are just a couple of my favorite feng shui points, compiled from the many articles I've read to prepare my own wallet!

1. Pick a money-making color.

Shown are my new (left) and old (right) wallets. Coincidentally, both colors seem to correspond to "wealth" in chi-freeing terms. Look for bold, royal colors to bring more money into your wallet.

2. Have all your bills facing the same way.

Supposedly, if you show respect for your money by having them facing one way and right-side up, then the money will respect you and be plentiful!

3. Keep one special piece of money in your wallet.

Keep the special piece and never spend it. It'll bring the wallet luck!

4. Do not keep receipts in there!

It brings bad chi, which is a big no-no! It's like keeping enemies wayyyyy too close.

Do you have any favorite ideas involving money (besides having it)?

the art of de-stressing.

It's getting close to me moving down south for my job; in about 6 days I'll be 17 hours and 1,066 miles away from my family. If I told you I wasn't scared, I would be lying. I'm scared out of my wits! Pile on the fact that I'm stressing over packing everything, getting myself down there, dealing with movers, and making sure everything goes well before my first day on the 29th... I'm freakingggg outtttt. But I've been trying to not get myself hyped up, so here are a couple of my de-stressing ideas that have helped me out these last couple of days.

1. Paint your nails! I recently polka dotted my nails using this tutorial that is designed to be soothing and relaxing. I feel like it helped me, and I ended up with super cute nails.

2. Take a relaxing bath. I know everyone says to take a bath and you'll relax, but if you add something extra like dried lavender flowers or small drops of rose oil will add something to a nice soak.

3. Clean! I love cleaning and it let's me put my mind on something else.

4. Meditate. This seems super zen of me but I love meditating (especially after yoga, another relaxing activity!) and it helps me clear my mind. Stress and anxiety are all linked to the mind, so letting go of all of the problems for a couple of minutes can really heal you.

Faith in Humanity

Click the source of the picture to see a very inspirational article! I will tell you, some of the pictures are NSFW, solely based on the fact that it shows a couple of men pants-less. Honestly though, some of these stories will bring tears to your eyes!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Fourth! + Things for July

(source)
Hey y'all! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their fourth of July.

I hope it's full of family, fun times, and foooood! Plus fireworks. ;)

I've seen this floating around the blogosphere, and I thought about putting together my own list of things I want to do in July + the rest of this summer. I always think of the 4th of July as the middle of the summer and half-way to get some summer projects done.

I hope for the rest of July I can:
- pack up everything I need to move
- get some new stuff for the new apartment
- finish up some friendship bracelets
- visit with all of my friends
- bake/cook some more
- visit some new parks with Daisy
- enjoy the Pennsylvania heat
- go to the beach one last time

Not a long list, but hopefully it'll keep me busy for the rest of the month!

What are your plans for the Fourth/rest of July?

Father's Day

Baby me and my Pops!
Dear Pops,

It's a day to celebrate you, everything you've done as a Dad, and a day that we all get to eat barbecue because it's your favorite. But really, I want to thank you for everything you've done for me.

You've gone through a lot of hardships that I've only started to learn about. You've stopped a cycle of abuse in your family and rose above what the "norm" was for your time. I am so proud of you.

You've stood by me and helped me with anything from friend problems to math problems. You were there to tell me to be tough, stand up for myself, and to not take any crap from anyone. You have been there to be my shoulder to cry on, even if you hate seeing me cry and get really awkward about it. Even though you try to put on this 'tough guy' persona, I know deep down you're just a sensitive and caring guy.

We have great laughs and great talks. You brushed and braided my hair in elementary school and always had cookies after soccer practice. You've always been there for me and I know that it will continue even after I move 1,000 miles away.

I just want to thank you for being a great Dad. Love you.

Love, Your Daughter

Hope y'all have a great Father's Day with your Father figures! :)

cats & fun facts

Need a pick-me-up for this Monday? Let my cat Ginger guide you through!

Cats hate the smell of citrus.

"Is that an orange I smell?! Gross!"
Cats do not have taste buds for sweet things.

"No ice cream for me? Oh well."
Cats are true carnivores.

"I'll have a steak, hold the vegetables"

Have a great start to your week!

a (nibbling) problem

Y'all, it looks like there's an issue.

I'm having a small nibbler issue, mainly due to DEER.

Having woods as part of your backyard makes little critters a typical sight you see every day; bunnies and baby deer and chipmunks and squirrels make life very cute. But one thing I have to hate is when deer decide that my plants are yummy to eat. UGH!

I've tried everything... deer repellent (which is pretty much a mix of bad smells), pet hair, and netting at night. My mom and I put up some little canisters around and they helped for about 4 weeks and then I found this sight early in the morning:

SO SAD.
no more buds! :(
BLEH.

I don't know for sure the brand of the repellent because my mom threw the package away before I got a good look, but it appears like all of their magic has run out. I am at my wit's end. I guess it's back to draping a net over the plants at night and then taking it off during the day.

Blogging world, do you have any idea of what else we can do to ward off deer? Any natural products that work really well? Any advice and help will be much appreciated!!

at the beginning

personal photo
Welcome to Wildflower at Heart, a little blog by me! This is the official post to kick off everything. Expect to see everything I like from flowers and puppies to the OKC Thunder basketball and Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. I am an eclectic young lady and you will definitely be seeing everything here! I can be a girly girl but I can also run the guys.

I am home in Pennsylvania for the summer and I'm ready to make the most out of my time here with family. Once my time here is up I will be going to a corporate job in Oklahoma at the end of July. Right now I'm just trying to hang out and relax. I'm succeeding so far!

I ultimately decided to start a blog because I'm done with college and I wanted to document this delicate & exciting time in my life. Also, I want to strengthen my writing skills because, even though I didn't major in anything literature related, writing is important to me. Feel free to let me know if I'm boring you or entertaining you; I love (and need) feedback!

How are y'all spending your summer?
